I came here believing in the American dream. I still believe in it. But that dream quickly becomes a nightmare when you’re a minority with legal troubles. They weaponize it against you, to disgrace…you… It’s a stigma that will follow you even when charges are dropped or your conviction is ultimately overturned.  It’s a permanent tattoo on your soul.
Now I’m an alien in America, my adoptive land, as I will soon be in my motherland.
